Please do excuse the scruffiness of Homer - she is going through her molt at the moment! ha ha! actually, since she has been in her aviary i have seen a faster improvement of her feather growth, maybe because it's cooler outside than where she has been inside until now.

Molting supplements
My female IRN is now 2 1/2 years old and she has obviously molted before but this year she looks particularly bad! I know as soon as her molt is finished she will look like her good old self but I fell very sorry for her at the moment. I have added a powdered supplement to her daily water called Avi...

So what about the leg issue? I have never heard of tis, im interested in people's opinions. He / She is very beautiful :) I think people lie. The one shop told me specifically that some breeders get away with a cocketiel box but it's not deep enough etc for the tail. I would rather do it properly and not end up buying another one later! Re: Can i wash a baby bird?
I wouldn't wash them! They might catch a cold at that young age and their preening skills are not yet developed. As adults they LOVE a bath of spray with a water bottle (I use the hose pipe on gently and mine will sit for hours under the sprinkler!) but as a baby i used cotton wool pads soaked and g...

I had one of those nets that goes around the bottom of the cage to supposedly catch dirt but what a waste of time and money! It's normally not too bad, just when they molt it gets out of hand! Is the temperature of your formula correct? Not too hot and not too cold. They will refuse to eat if this is the case.

I also wouldnt try and force the bird to eat. But do encourage it! Some babies eat well and other dont. I suppose it is also survival of the fittest. I do agree with the comment about water in the formula. When I hand reared mine I kept worrying about water but I was told she didnt need any water be...

The big males can be HUGE! I would say as big as a medium sized dog and their teeth are probably about 2 inches long or more. The babies are the problems though because they are more agile and they are the ones who come down to her stand to eat. They are so tame because they come scavenging for food...

Always remember that even though a smaller cage may be sufficient for your bird, you as an owner should buy the biggest cage that your finances allow for, for the welfare of your bird.
