Re: What is too cold ??
i too would be interested in finding out what other people do as we are approaching winter here as well. we keep our birds cages outside so that's where they sleep. we have cafe blinds to protect them from the wind, rain, etc.. but these don't stop the cold getting in. you know i think birds can pro...

Re: My Indian RingNeck Chews her tail feathers...

Re: protein pellets???
Are you sure that the bird isnt damaging its own tail by chewing on it? Maybe get the Vet to just check it out to see if there is no underlying problem. thanks for the reply! :D chicken bones sound interesting! she's been through a lot in her short little life so i'm guessing she's got a few hang-u...

ahh so it's called a clutch! thx! I have two from the same clutch living together in one cage. One of them had a rough landing not long ago and hurt himself pretty bad so he was getting nasty whenever the other bird came near him. Completely understandable because he was in pain and didn't wan...

Best solution for a broken blood feather is to simply pull the feather out. :) yikes! what do you do? just yank it out like you were pulling out a human hair? hope i never have to go there but good to know! I'm happy to give you my two cents but when it comes down to raising ringnecks i'm totally wingin' it... :P I don't know if it's good advice but my birds didn't really do much when we got them home on the first day. I think they were a little too young to squawk.. Sprocket just sort of sat there and...

Re: Joining the IRN family!
This guy right... his idea was.. he pulled the wing out and left 2 feathers on the outer wing and 2 feathers close to their bodies which he said helps cover their kidneys and then he snipped off all the feathers in the middle right up to the feather line. Then with the two outer feathers he cut them...

The talc seems to have done the trick but what a horrible thing for Sprocket to have to go through. :( I don't know if next time we bath him it'll start bleeding again but I'm going to keep a close eye on it!
