I clean Skye's cage with vinegar and water (not a ton of vinegar, though). So it smells kind of pickle-ish for a bit, but it's non-toxic.

And see how smart they are? He kept at it until "he got his way". I got Skye when he/she was three months old. He actually picked me out of the crowd, not the other way around. Rode home on my shoulder, let me touch him, took food out of my hand, etc. We ran an in-home daycare and one of t...

Re: Any suggestions for toys?
There are a lot of sites that offer toys. What I usually do is look at the toys and figure out how to make them myself. Much cheaper that way. Things that I keep on hand are tongue depressors, little wooden spoons that come in those little cups of ice cream, bells, baby keys (plastic toys), quick li...

I know that whenever Skye gets a tad nippy with me, it's because he/she (beginning to think he) is tired, hungry, or wanting our attention. A long sleeved shirt has saved my skin on more than one occasion! :P Can't find the skin, he gives up and steps up. I don't respond to the nipping and it's been...

We have a dog named Bandit, and she is old and we have to say her name kind of loud with an emphasis on the BAN part of it. So it comes out like BANdit. Well, Skye has begun to mimic us. Do you hold him a lot? Usually Skye screams when she feels the need to be carried or talked to. We run an in-home childcare, so she seems to want to scream at naptime. I will tell her to stop screaming, and if she doesn't stop screaming I put her in a time out, which is essentially putting her in th...

Skye does make a lot of noise. She will get really loud if I don't acknowledge her, but if I look at her and tell her "Please don't scream", she actually stops. It's actually kind of funny. She likes to be right in the thick of things and will let us know if she thinks she's being ignored....

Try putting him to bed later? Just a suggestion. We put Skye to bed between 8 and 9 and she sleeps all night long. Well, I can hear her shuffling around in there sometimes during the night, but she does it quietly.

I am by no means an expert at this, being a new IRN parent myself just this year. But I can see a few questions that might help someone with more experience answer your question: 1. How much time does Ziggy get out of the cage? 2. How much human contact does Ziggy get? Hm. I guess that is really all...

I'm inclined to let...

So things were going along great with Skye. Suddenly, two weeks ago, she decides she wants NOTHING to do with me.
