Ideas for mounting a exterior nesting box?

My pair are currently in a flight cage. I think this is a bit small by the time the nesting box goes in and potential for 6 more birds! So i'm doing a bit of a cage swap, which works well because the cage I'll swap them into has an optional partition in the middle. Offspring can be seperated into on...

Breeders Choice Kitty Litter for nesting material?

I am going to add a nesting box in with my pair soon and was wondering whether anybody had tried Breeders Choice recycled paper kitty litter as nesting material? I have access to wood shavings also but wanted to find out about the kitty litter option first. It's chemical and additive free, odourless...

Re: Safest way to introduce the birdies ^_^

I had to introduce the IRNS a little earlier than intended. Tempe managed to poke her head through the cage bars of her cage so to avoid injury i put her in with Sano. They've been together a week or so maybe? And she still wont let him go near her. How long is too long for them to not get along? Sh...

Do males get 'clucky'?

Hi! I have two IRN's housed seperately. This week I have acquired a cage large enough to fit them both plus potential chicks. It needs some maintenance before it is bird safe, so to get them used to each other I've put their cages side by side. Both have started odd behaviour since they've been next...

New Cage, mesh and nest box advice ^_^

Hi guys! How are we all? :) Welll!! I have two IRN's, a green male named Sanozuke (Sano) and an albino (hopefully!) female named Tempe. They're caged seperately and as of late i've been searching for a cage large enough to accomodate them both with the possibilty of expanding the flock :D (if Tempe ...

Re: Safest way to introduce the birdies ^_^

Thanks Ellie! Good news all, I posted on my facebook page that I was looking for an aviary sized cage...Who said Facebook is all bad lol! My neighbour came running over saying he had a 1mx1m and 2m (ish) tall cage he was going to dump...So he gave it to me :D It's in great condition. Bit of rust on ...

Safest way to introduce the birdies ^_^

I have a green cock and an albino hen. They are currently caged seperately and I'm wondering what the safest way to introduce them would be. The cock is rather skittish and the hen loves me; aslong as i dont try to touch her lol she becomes quite snappy. I'm wondering if i introduce them and they be...

Blood Feathers?

I still haven't learnt this site fully yet, I couldn't see if there was a 'bird health' or medical section...so I apologise if this thread belongs in a different area! I have noticed that my albino IRN has (what i THINK is...) two massive blood feathers...one on each wing. I'm wondering, does the bl...

Oh, by the way, the small cage is only temporary! Please don't think I would keep an IRN in a cage of that size permanently. She has lice so is quarantined from my other birds til they're gone. :)

New IRN, not sure on gender yet but being referred to as 'she'. I thought albino, but the seller (whom had no idea on birds and hated them hence the sale) said she was purchased as a cremello, i'm not 100% on IRN mutations as yet. But she had $40 for a quick sale so i'm not complaining, i think she'...

Hi there are so many outcomes depending on what you pair him with so if you type in http://www.gencalc.com and go to the scientific name for Indian ringneck and use the calculator to see what you outcomes will be. Now just so you know green, violet and grey are dominant genes so there of spring wil...

Green cock, Hen options?

Hi all! I'm currently the happy owner of a green cock, not sure of his correct mutation. Dunno whether he has any splits or anything. I'm curious as to what colour chicks he could produce to different coloured hens? I don't have a hen as yet, but before i start a search I'd love opinions on possible...

I'm currently seeking a new cage for my budgies...this one comes in a pack of 2 cages, so i'm wondering, would this cage be suitable for an IRN? Today i'm picking up a male IRN. Age is unknown, but i'm guessing he's atleast 3 as his ring seems mature. (the part he has atleast lol - part has been plucked by another bird). Picking up my ringneck today!

Hello everyone! I'm Mally, from Australia. I used to own a grey female IRN. Today i'm going to pick up a 'second hand' green male. He's been semi neglected, so it's my hope to give him a loving home that he hasn't known before :) Not sure yet what I will name him. He's missing feathers from the bac...
