Re: :-(
I have already had an email and pictures and now I feel more content that I made the right choice. He has a young lad giving him plenty of attention and they have other birds in the house. It's very quiet here but now I think it was best for him.

After long thought and ill health I have found Gomez a new home, it may seem sudden but I have been trying to think more of him and more attention he could have. I have directed the new owners this way so I hope they will join and introduce themselves. I found it very difficult to give him up but I ...

My Mum has a 16 year old cockatiel which she though was a girl. Totes (it's name) says 'good girl' 'pretty girl' 'you are such a pretty pretty girl' ....to find it's a boy... the bird doesn't know any different and it became a bit of a laugh seeing as the cockatiel says all this in a cockney type ac...

Awwww how cute!
As for the food spillage all babies do this... can't really be helped.
The only thing to do is to just give them a good wipe off round their beaks after a meal.

Well I'm in Holland so on the 5th Dec the Dutch have 'Sinterklaus' which is basically the same as the 25th, I guess yes that will be a white day! On the 25th I'll be in the UK with my Family.... I hope to have an easy drive there and hope to get snowed in while there so I can spend a bit more time.....

Re: secretions around beak and nostrils
They can get stressed when going into a new environment but what you are describing sounds more like the start of a respiratory problem, I'd get him to a vet as soon as possible and get him checked out. Usually a IRN's nostril and beak area are dry and clean.
Good luck and keep us updated

Yep unfortunately the pet shop owner didn't have a clue, you are the proud owner of two very beautiful blue males.
I hate pet shops as it is... half of them don't understand anything about the animals they are selling or how to look after them.
