Re: genetic question just out of curiosity.

The colored hybrid Alex/ringnecks in the link Coastal-Birds provided are beautiful but they still don't look the real deal.
Pretty though but shouldn't be called pure Alexandrines

Waiting

After mating how long does it take for them to lay eggs? I don't see anything about that on this site. My pair have been mating like crazy and still nothing has happened. Also how long after they lay the eggs until they hatch?

Calcium foods

My IRN's don't really like eggs so what can I give them that has a good amount of calcium? I put Rowdybush pellets in a hanging dish and they don't like that either even when I mix it with their seeds. Just peanuts, strawberries, oranges, corn, and parrot seed. That's all they seem to want! Is that ...

Re: So hard to tame!

Okay I got some gloves today and clipped his wings, he was so mad lol! After I got the wings done and I was holding him for a little while he stopped screaming but was still biting. I put him back in his cage and I went and got his favorite food, a strawberry! lol He eyeballed it for about 5 minutes...

Re: So hard to tame!

Ok these last 3 days I have tried holding tasty treats up to this one IRN but he won't accept them, he just screams like a goose (extremely loud) and runs from me. This boy/girl wants absolutely nothing to do with me! I tried holding him in a towel and rubbing his head and offering treats again but ...

Creamino male $150 a good deal?

I'm new to the more exotic colors but is $150 good for a 2yr old yellow/white creamino? He has a red ring.

What sexes and colors could we get?

At this point I don't know anything about IRN genetics so I am hoping that this will help me learn more about my birds. My mature couple right now is the Gray and Lutino Hen, my youngsters that are not set up are the normal green couple. So I have 2 pairs of IRN's. Now the normal Greens, I don't kno...

So hard to tame!

It took no time for us to tame our quakers but with the ringnecks, they are so wild and bite crazy.
Whats the deal?

Re: Young male behavior

Well our "young male" is a young female lol  So it makes sense the females were fighting over the nest box.
I took her to a breeder and he said if you feel by the pelvic area, a bone and then a space and then another bone then its a female. Is that true?

Young male behavior

Now I am pretty sure that this is a male! He doesn't have his ring yet, but my Grandmother assured me that he is a male when I picked him up. Before I put the nestbox on them they were all calm and cool, the young green male was talking to the female and even grooming her! I was trying to figure out...
