Whacha Doin?
I, like most of us, have been teaching Smokey to say lots of things and his vocabulary is steadily increasing and becoming clearer so that even others can understand what he is saying. The latest thing he has suddenly picked up is 'Whacha Doin?' It was a couple of days ago, I came home from work as ...

This keeps happening over and over. he also used to destroy my boyfriends laptop which is ok for me . However, n...

Hi, hope I am welcome even after all this time
For those that remember me and for those that don't or don't know me, I am Elaine. My grey IRN is Smokey. He is now 18 months old and that beautiful ring is well and truly coming through. He is as mischievious as anything, funny but annoying. Has to have everything I have, wrecks everythng I have ye...

Borrowed the camera from work, so these are quick ones
This is the first time I have done the videos, and I borrowed the camera from work. Just a start so hope I can do it again. Smokey became too curious with the camera and just wanted it but hope you get the idea of what he's like. Also he is now about 8 months old, he is starting to get a little dark...

In Reverse
This may be a strange question but does anyone's bird walk in reverse. Obviously I am asking this because mine does. Most of the time when climbing in downward direction he goes beak first or if possible he side steps or slides. However there are a couple of things that when he climbs down he seems ...

Well, parents understand what their children are saying before anyone else, so why not with birds too in my experience with birds in general, They have this certain sound....I call it babbling (like a baby babbles). Potentally dangerous find
Oh no, today I have made a potentially financially devastating discovery. A new pet store has open up right near my house - I could walk !!! And to make it worse all they sell are birds. And YES they have cages and cages of ringnecks too. He also is expanding into all the other stuff like food, toys...

Smokey will eat anything. He adores fried rice, potatoes, all fruits thats put in front of him and will give any veggie a go. Of course he wants anything that I eat and loves bread dipped in soup as well as garlic bread. He often sits on the kitchen floor watching the oven for something to come out!...

I think he's having tantrums
At any time during the day I can generally put my Smokey in his cage if I have to without much trouble. I say I have to go, its bye bye time and he will wave and go in his cage. However, at night time, even when all the lights and the tv are still on, if I say to him he has to go in his cage cos it'...

That is so cute. My Smokey makes that same noise when I put him back in his cage, he firstly squawks his little grey head off at me - really giving me a piece of his mind objecting loudly - then lets out a series of kitty like whimpers at the end. I find myself apologising for having to put him in h...

Last night Smokey bit me really hard several times. He wouldn't step up or let me pat him, Everytime I tried to put my finger near him he bit really hard. He hasn't ever bit that hard. Tonight when I put my finger out for Smokey to step up he put his beak on me to push my finger away, however I noticed saliva (or drool) from his beak on my finger. Actually Smokey has just started some unusual behaviour along with the beak rubbing. He kind of makes himself a like a bulldozer along the floor. Natalie, that is so cool. Smokey wants anything I am eating, especially if i don't offer it to him. I have started to say 'yum yum' while eating in front of him. Now if i have food in my hand and say 'yum yum' he comes running. Worth a try!! It is a big step for you. Congrats you must be so excited.
