Re: Chick is now regurgitating when fed

He actually ended up passing away two days ago, I found out later that they will regurgitate if they are dehydrated. It was a result likely of the humidity being far too low in the brooder, I had no idea that could be an issue, I was always concerned with the temperature. I found this out from a ver...

Re: Is it normal for a chick to peep from inside the egg?

I am not sure, I have no experience with lovebirds lol. The baby IRN seems much more lethargic yesterday and more so today. Last evening though he perked up, and today he is sleeping more, he is still gaining weight and his crop seems to be functioning normally? He is nine days old today, does anyon...

Re: Is it normal for a chick to peep from inside the egg?

I am actually ok, it is now going through the night (8 hours) no feeding and about every 2 hours and 45 minutes, trying to stretch out over three hours now.

Re: Is it normal for a chick to peep from inside the egg?

The first 48 hours I was told to feed every two hours around the clock, then After try for every 2 1/2 hours if they can tolerate it well, it is up to 9 grams and 54 mm in length, I don't have a growth chart.

Re: Is it normal for a chick to peep from inside the egg?

Not sure, he has gotten quieter over night ( about 10 hours), will keep a very close eye on it.

Is it normal for a chick to peep from inside the egg?

I have ended up with the last egg from a pair I used to own. The parents killed their first hatchling and the person who currently have the pair asked if I would take it as the hen is no longer willing to sit on the egg. It has pipped and is pecking away still, and is peeping. Now I have experience ...

Re: Would two indian ringnecks of the same gender get along?

Very good, thank you both for your reply. I recently had to rehome my female, she was attacking our quaker, and was upset because she had bonded with my husband, and he is gone three weeks at a time now, so she stopped talking and then more aggression set in. She is very happy now in her new home, h...

Would two indian ringnecks of the same gender get along?

Just like the title said, I am considering getting two of the same gender, as I don't want to breed, or have them just bond with each other.

What age can IRN babies be pulled for hand feeding?

I don't have any eggs, and don't expect any for a year, but I am a planner and would like to know what is the ideal age to pull a chick for hand feeding? I plan to do this in order to make a great pet.

Re: Is it possible for a male to not now how to "do the job"

I guess it is breeding season, the days have just started to get longer, with much more daylight. I make sure they both have fresh fruit and veggies daily, she has access to a cuttle bone/fish for calcium, water is changed twice daily, high quality pellets, but they do prefer eating their parrot mix...

Re: Is it possible for a male to not now how to "do the job"

I think it is a learnt dance as she was at the aviary until she was five months old, and may have seen the breeding pairs "dancing away". The pair just spend time together outside of their cages, during their daily free time, I don't expect anything, she is just one, and I have no nesting ...

Is it possible for a male to not now how to "do the job"

I have recently gotten an 8 year old male, he was/is a breeder bird, his old partner suffered an injury and was retired. He was sold to me, I already had a 1 year old female as our pet. He and she have been bonding really well through the bars, and now for the past few days he has been let out, and ...

Re: Breeding Career?

I don't breed IRNs, but am starting parrotlets, and just setting up a diversified "stock" has been a pretty penny. In the end, I am doing this more as a hobby, and the any money I get, is just that..extra.

Adopted an 8 year old male "breeder", can he be tamed???

So I was fortunate enough to be able to adopt an 8 year old, not tame, blue IRN. He was kept as a breeder, but had not actually ever bred with his older partner, whom he was separated from a couple months ago because she had gotten ill. I do have my own female, but she is our pet, and I am not worri...
