Training debate with a friend, what to do and not to do
OK so I am training/taming my IRN and I will be the first to admit I'm no bird pro, this is my first IRN after having budgies for years. When I purchased him he would not let you go inside the cage at all and would bite every time. fast forward 3-4 weeks I can now enter his cage bare hands and go ab...

Re: cage size dispute
YAY I got a new cage! it's perfect size for him and I brought a play gym for above it, I think the change has also affected his attitude as he's far more relaxed and wiling to be handled more

Re: Training, bare hands or use of something?
Thanks for the replies. since I posted this we have improved a lot, he let's me enter his cage bare hands now to change feed/water and paper without a fuss but was unsure about me getting too close so I used a sock to teach him to step up. We have worked out when I enter his space bare hands it's on...

Re: is there a visual way to tell if an albino is a male?
Hi does your IRN have red eyes? a true albino it won't produce a ring, but I have read on here they can produce a shaded line with their feathers (not sure if it happens in just male or both). If it doesn't have red eyes then it's not an albino and would more likely be a very dilute grey or somethin...

Training, bare hands or use of something?
I'm trying to get my IRN used to me entering the cage (he's fine with my hands outside now) but when I enter the cage, unless I have a treat he bites me and sometimes really hard and won't let go. Can I use a glove/sock etc for a while until he get's used to me entering his cage to interact with him...

Re: cage size dispute
Thanks for your reply. she told me the main reason she didn't want another big cage in the house is because she has three in the lounge room but I talked her into letting me put it into the kitchen/dining room for now YAY I'm always in there lol Oh on a side note I put some application in for houses...

cage size dispute
Hi all. I'm living with my mother in-law while I hunt for a new house, at the moment I have my IRN in a rather small cage that I brought to transport him, he has room to hop from one perch to another, spread wings, has toys etc but I want to move him into a larger cage. My problem is I have only had...

Hi, I am so excited to have purchased my first IRN Papa smurf (or just Papa for short) yesterday. I'm not 100% sure on gender but the breeder said she believes it's a male (I'm getting DNA testing done so it might turn into smurfette yet lol). At the moment he's going through the bluffing stage and ...
