Skye's growing up!! First black ring feather!!
My sweet little Skye is growing up! He will be 2 this April. He's been doing the male dance forever now. That's what made me guess he is a boy. Now there's no doubting it: He just grew his first black ring feather!! He was around 3 months when we got him. We got him mid June of 2008. http://i249.pho...

Re: What type of bird would you like?
With Leo on this one! Love the ringneck species! I also dream of having a hyacinth macaw, greenwing macaw, and an african grey. I also want a blue throat macaw, red fronted macaw, english budgies, conures, black palm cockatoos, the list goes on and on. I would love a kestrel (small american falcon) ...

Re: Can i have a ringneck & a conure in the same cage?
I have two male ringies of different ages living together. Skye is my oldest at 1 year or so old when we got Anakin, the baby. Anakin was about 3 months old when we brought him home. They have been living in the same cage now for about 5 months and all is well. They seem to argue a bit more on the p...

Re: 3 stolen parrots- Phoenix AZ HELP
This was posted in the right section the first time, adoption Lost and Found. Is the person with the missing birds a member here? The person with the missing birds is not a member here. I'm just trying to get more word out even though it happened 3 months ago. Chances are slim I'm sure at this poin...

3 stolen parrots- Phoenix AZ HELP
Yes this is cross posted from the adoption board but I don't think anyone was seeing it. I think more people would see it here. This is from another parrot forum I'm on. The birds went missing June 1. I know that was a while ago, but I only just now saw it, as I'm a newbie to that site. She's still...

Re: Many many and really many pics of Sam! Boy or Girl?!?
I know my Skye is a boy. He's only ever done the male mating dance. There's a good video of a male dance somewhere on here. Females have a dance too. Males strut with their wings half out, making their bodies heart shaped. Females hunker down flat, hold their heads straight up, and make a clucking s...

Re: Girlfriend for Smokey?
I got a friend for Skye. I ended up getting whichever bird I fell in love with. Anakin ended up being male. He was DNA sexed so we knew for sure. You don't necessarily have to have a female. My two share a large cage and all seems well. They seem to get along pretty well for the most part. They have...

Don't know anything about that brand of cages. I'm sorry.
I have one of these for my two. They like it! It's plenty big enough, but it isn't as decorative looking as your kind is though. I got it cuz it's cheap, but well made.

Pumpkin to for Skye and Anakin? is pumpkin good for birds?
What specific kind of pumpkin should I get? The ones designed for making into jack-o-lanterns or those weird looking little ones with all those little bumps? How do I need to prepare it? Should I cook it? Leave it raw but wash it really well? I should cut the top off right? My two aren't picky eater...

I recently got another ringie because like you, I decided one isn't enough. :P Anakin, the lutino in my sig, is our second ever ringie. Anthony swears he heard Anakin talk! and a bathing question
I was sitting in the living room on my laptop and Skye was out, but Anakin was in their cage. I heard a muffled "Good boy" and thought it was Skye. Sometimes he's really clear and when he's just practicing, he muffles it a bit. Anthony happened to be walking by the birdies room at that mom...

I lost the baby..
I just had a miscarriage yesterday. I didn't want to say anything on here until it was confirmed. My doctor confirmed it today. The level of hcg (the pregnancy hormone) in my body is extremely low and apparently falling, due to my complete loss of symptoms in the last 48 hours. Anthony and I were cr...

Hi there, I / we had the same concern with my wife's pregnancy last year. We have 3 indoor cats, Russian Blues, and toxoplasmosis can occur in cats, and pregnant women should avoid handling pet litter, or anything to do with cat faeces. The parasite primarily lives in cats. We contacted our doctor ...

I can't handle parrots during pregnancy???
I'm reading something that's scaring me. I'm about 4 or 5 weeks pregnant. Toxoplasmosis is a disease that makes babies really sick, but that generally shows no signs in healthy adults because we are able to fight it off. My cousin Laura who is a Registered Nurse says I should not handle Skye and Ana...

I'm so totally stoked!!! I am right around 5 weeks, based on my own calculations. 5 positive at home pregnancy tests (2 of them were those fancy digital things) and blood work results confirmed it. I have been away because I was busy reading up on babies and pregnancy and stuff on a pregnancy forum....
