Re: Taking on a friends ringneck
Thanks bec, I appreciate your help. I know I only flit in here every now and then. I've decided to take the girl, she is giving my friend a lot of grief , but I'll put her in an aviary and get a friend for her. Tricky's ring is almost fully out now, bec!! He looks really handsome. I must take some p...

Taking on a friends ringneck
My Indian Ringneck is just on two years old and he is a boy :) He is very friendly, flies onto my shoulder, enjoys pats etc. He tries to talk but can't just yet. He is mature sexually (he tries to do things to my hand while biting my fingers). A friend has a mature female ringneck that is laying egg...

Oh he/she is just beautiful!!! Your last pic looks like your ringneck might be a male. All that black down the side of the beak. What a cutie!! Have you tried broccoli, red capsicum (bell peppers), cheese (small amounts). My fellow likes all of those things plus all-bran (in small amounts), baby spi...
Bec she will almost certainly recover once she gets some antibiotics into her. And the other fellow with the leg condition, well I don't know much about it so can't comment. The old boy will love living with you and not in a pet shop for sure! Good on you for taking the birds in, you have a big hear...
Oh bec, how sweet! I don't have any one-eyed tame birds but do have a one-eyed cocky that visits here and he seems to get along ok, although I don't know how old he is. He compensates for his missing eye with extremely sharp hearing I think. I think it would depend on how long your budgie has had no...

My Tricky, don't know if you remember or not.

Tricky is doing well....after the last moult he has orange/tangerine colours happening around his neck...and the big blac...

Friend trying to join this site
Hello, I have a friend that is trying to join the site/forums. She has a young IRN and wants some advice. All attempts to join so far have given her a "fatal error" message. I tried to join myself this evening without logging in and got the same message. Could someone please help!! Cheers ...

Did you get to go to the beach pinkdevil??? Hopefully the weather was kind if you did!!! I've been away myself for a couple of weeks, down the south coast...very cold weather but lovely sunny days. No probs It is a bit sad that Jenkins will be going through the motions and not have any bubs at the end of it, but if you do take away the eggs, she will more than likely go down again. I have a little green bush budgie here. His name is Tommy. Such a sweet little thing even though he is not tame....

Ok - I see what you're saying and I don't won't to encourage her ...I like the idea of the bowl and will give that a try! Watching the budgies over the last couple of days has been enlightening. I feel sad for Jenkins that it's most likely that her eggs won't hatch and she'll have spent so much time...

Thank you so much, pinkdevil, that is just the advice I wanted/needed to hear! I'll leave the eggs with her and see how she goes. My big blue pied budgie, Jenkins, today laid two eggs on the bottom of the cage....she has a partner - a little green native Budgie, Johnson. They are taking turns sitting on the eggs. I thought they were both female budgies, could I be wrong??? Neither of them have blue beaks, and both are over two...

Bec, jealousy is something I really worry about...Tricky is such a sook and has become very attached to me (though at least he will interact with the other family members now). Thanks Lauren, so do you only offer protein once a fortnight?? Not sure exactly what you read, but here is a simple response: Meat sounds fine, why not? Wild parrots have eaten it, on occasion. ^_~ As far as lice/mites and worms, do you have reason to suspect your IRN has them? Mites are usually obvious, the damage shows. Worms aren't too common in our indoor ...

Feeding of protein
Hello again everyone....more questions from a relatively new "mother". Once a week or so Tricky has some protein in the form of meat (chicken, beef, lamb). He totally loves chicken....especially the wings (he eats them down to the bone!!) and once a month or so we'll have crumbed lamb cutl...

I just found this board today - what a great place!!! Tricky had a clipped wing so I'm sure someone was tryin...
