Re: Too young to breed?
Hope you are successful. I also have young IRNs. Not sure if I have a pair. I have a 1 1/2 year old green IRN who I think is a male. His ring is getting darker. My other one is a 1 year old lutino and hope it is a female. Base on your situation and if I have a pair, they should be ready to breed nex...

I removed all of the eggs ( 6 eggs) yesterday and none were fertile I have placed new nesting material and will observe them again. I will keep trying for the next 2 years and see if the male gets it right. I am wondering if everyone is experiencing this same problem when they say that they have inf...

My breeding pair are not tamed. Everytime I step into the aviary they fly around. I have read in an old post on this website that they eventually figure it out. I just want to confirm this with the experts first hand. If I have to wait another two years than I will wait. Female is currently laying o...

I have been paying close attention to their courting behavior and this is what I have observed. The female wi...

Should the nestbox be removed during off-season?
I have been noticing that both my IRNs are not roosting inside the nestbox. Should I remove the nestbox during the off-season? I house my birds outside in a walk-in aviary. By removing the nestbox during the off-season, will this encourage mating during the breeding season? I will be placing the nes...

The pair of IRNs were given to me and was told that they are about 3 years old. They are house in a aviary that I built which measures 7'L X 4'W X 7'H. I feed them the best food I can find from the pet store plus fresh fruits and vegies. Water is changed daily with a few drops of Vitamins. They also...

Hello everyone, just wanted to say that this site is a great place to gather information. I was given two IRN (pair) recently. The male is grey and the female is yellow. they are about 3 years old (don't know the exact age). They are very wild but that is OK. both have leg bands which makes me think...
