Phases of Maturity
I've been working with my male IRN Jones for the last year or so. I have noticed that as he matures, his comprehension has been getting a lot better. What I mean by this is that he seems to be developing more of a capacity for bonding, problem solving, talking, willingness to try new foods, and well...

Re: Scared me to near death. I climbed a fence.
Geez, you got lucky! The same thing happened to me a while back. Jones was young, and his wings had been clipped so far back from the shop that it took close to a year for him to grow anything respectable back. Long story short, I took him outside on my shoulder to take the trash out. Something spoo...

Re: How long, how looooooonng???!!?!
My IRN Jones started talking right around 9 months old. I tried to do/say anything that would get his attention and make him interested in 'communicating'. I believe the most important thing is to 'train' him in a situation where he is aware of your presence and paying attention to you. If you talk ...

Re: Will he EVER want me to pet him again?!
I have a similar 'problem' with Jones, my male IRN. He will play games with me and sit on my shoulder for as long as I entertain him, but the second it looks like I might pet him, he flies away. I've cheated a little bit and before I cover him for the night and he is too tired to escape, I gently pe...

Re: To clip or not to clip?
Hey thanks a lot guys for your feedback. You are all right of course about not clipping him. My other birds are fully flighted and seeing zoom from one room to another chirping away definitely makes me happy. However THOSE birds love me and want to be near me. :) I'm going to try to get Jones more i...

To clip or not to clip?
Hi guys, My buddy Jones is about 18 months old. He's an awesome bird. He interacts somewhat well with myself and my girlfriend when she is around. He loves to talk and say funny things to us and his toys. However, he's never wanted to stay with me for long periods of time. I'd like to get to a point...

Hi I'm interested in a lutino or white IRN baby.
Does anyone know of any for sale in Virginia/North Carolina?
Thanks,
Jason

New to the Forum and Indian Ringnecks
Hi everyone, After a lot of research and pet store visits, I've decided that an IRN is for me. I wanted to introduce myself, because once I get an IRN, I'm sure you will be hearing more from me! My name is Jason and I live in Virginia Beach, VA. I'm still shopping for a bird, but I will most likely ...
