Thank you so much for that guys. Sorry I didn't respond earlier, I was computerless. We'll see what happens. I might put a breeding box in there soon. My cockatiel hen was being very naughty with her seed bowl this morning so it might be that time in the top end of Australia... I'll keep you guys up...

Mating behaviour?
Hi everyone, I've read most of these posts which are really informative but hoping someone might clear up a question. Cricket is my 2.5 yo hen who's been hand reared by myself and she just loves me. Whenever we cuddle she clucks, arches her head so it touches he back etc (I think that's mating behav...

Thanks
Thanks for all the replies people. Yeah, I figured the hard road will be the only one that works, and driving the neighbours crazy will be hard, cause I'm lucky enough to count them as friends. I was thinking about bidding for a clicker on e-bay. Believe it or not, I've tried all the pet shops AND p...

OMG Cricket just wont shut up. .....
I don't know what to do. She starts screaming as soon as I get home until I get her out of her flight aviary. She's fine as long as I'm paying her attention and we do have at least 1/2 hour of cuddles. Then I feed her fresh veg & fruit and then I put her on her perch where she can see me. This i...

My IRN and tiel grew up together. So you'd think they'd be best of friends. They were fed their handrearing food on the bench together and everything. But, alas, I didn't allow them to keep their love for each other going because they were bonding to each other. Now, 2 years later, my IRN is a real ...

Poor Mik, 5am? Go back to bed darl. I was in the middle of posting a reply to Donna yesterday when the power went out. So anyway, I'll take her to work when the boss is out, and I put the suggestion to Matt to divide the aviary. Might be a good idea, but I don't know how we'll go putting a partitian...

Good point Donna. The other IRN was actually a mild rescue case. He's pretty wild and won't come anywhere near me unless it's to fly at me and veer away I don't think I want to seperate them, as they need the room of the large flight aviary their in. My hubby actually suggested I take Cricket into w...

Very standoffish... what's going on?
Hi everyone. Since Cricket got a new roomy, she's been really standoffish to me. She's carrying on like a pork chop whenever I go and visit her in her big aviary, bluffing & puffing herself out like no-ones business. I used to be able to tell her to step up and she'd come out with no probs, but ...

Crash ...
We were gifted a mature IRN that we named Crash. He was banded by his previous owners too tightly, and his foot fell off (poor bub). Anyway, my local breeder took him in, but he was picked on by all the mating pairs in the aviary, so she asked me to take him in. He's a gorgeous bird, though he's not...

Moulting???
Hi everyone. Got a question, Cricket's just over 2yo now, and she's looking decidedly dull. She hasn't lost any of her tail or flight feathers, just the small fluffy ones, so I'm hoping this is just a bit of a molt. She's not eating very well either. Has anyone got any comments? I'm a bit concerned....

Relocating Cricket
Hi everyone. I always used to have the tiels on the verandah with my IRN Cricket within seeing distance. Everyone was pretty happy. WELL.... I thought I'd do a favour to my tiels and brought a large flight aviary which I put out the back and Cricket suddenly became very noisy. Calling calling with t...

Yipee, another Aussie .... Between all the aussies and the kiwis we'll be taking over soon Congrats on your baby! I've got a greenie named Cricket who's 1 and a half years old. The terrible two's have hit already. She's really sweet but sometimes tries to bluff me by trying to rear over me by making...

Wow, nesting?
She's only 1 year & 3 months old. Ok, cool. She always has plenty of cuttle bones and plenty of toys, and most of the time when I'm home she's out of the cage and busy playing on her playstand (she's spoilt )
Thanks
Thanks

I'm so jealous. I've got my IRN without a mate, but she's too young anyway, but my pair of tiels aren't doing anything but being slack

Shredding?
Hi everyone, sorry I haven't posted in a while, just been too busy. My Cricket is going nuts at the moment. She is in the bottom of her cage and is shredding the newspaper I put down into insie winsie bits and has a fab time doing this. Is this normal? Thanks everybody

Cricket wolf whistles and the start of "This old Man - he plays 1" etc, but he does also say hello. Not too clearly but he's working on it. He's nearly 12 months old now, so I'll keep working with him (what a character lol). And I think he thinks he's a cockatiel cause he mimics them (very loudly) w...

Cricket just LOOOOVES it when I cook him up his brown rice with mixed veg. He really gets into the 4 bean mix that I put in there too. And you should see him around dinner time when I'm in the kitchen cooking. He goes OFF trying to reach me from in the dining room, screaming and carrying on like he ...

Pellets
Helloooo again! I've heard a lot about how good pellets are for tiels as well as IRN's. I've gone to every vet, supplier, pet store in Darwin (Australia) and they don't sell it . Would anybody have any idea where I could get some (hopefully interstate rather than overseas?) Have a fab day... and tha...

He's just beautiful. But what a rat bag throwing those pegs at your chook ey? You should see Cricket with his seed bowl. He's like a demon possessed throwing all the seed out and then when I get home at 2:30, guaranteed the seed bowl is on the bottom of his cage! RAT BAG! It's good I feed him all hi...

Hi from DownUnder
Just wanted to say a BIG HI. This is my first time on this site and I love it. Everybody is so warm and friendly and the fact that you're all bird crazy is what I like. I have an IRN named Cricket and 3 cockaties (hopefully a lot more when my eggs hatch....I'm soooo excited). When I find out how to ...
