Breeding imported birds

Post by batel.bo » Fri Dec 14, 2018 4:44 am

Hi.
I live in Europe where the breeding season start in Dec. (now)
and imported a mature pair from south africa where the breeding season starts in August.
What are the chance's of this pair to work this season?

Anything is likely. If the birds feel comfortable enough they will start to breed. Just provide them with a lot of food, privacy, and a nesting box.

Best of luck my friend, :)

It is highly unlikely that you will breed in the current season.. not many breeders are aware of the fact that adult birds from one hemisphere require to become acclimatised to the new zone.. this may take one season(if you are lucky) or two or more.. sometimes not at all.. good luck with your birds..you may even breed with them now .. this occurs if the bird has not gone through the moult recently .. but this is an exception rather than the rule.
