ring at what age?

hi i have a gorgous 6 month old blue ring neck, in the last month he`s started getting a grey ring around the front of his neck .I know you can`t tell if they`re a male or female till they turn about 18 months but do female`s get a ring at all? It`s quite dark.

Females do get a ring but its very light. I think your IRN sounds like a boy

Juveniles and females do tend to have an "apparent" ring, but it's more like a shimmer or something like that where the ring would be. It's not "the" ring. You can typically only see it from this or that angle and only under appropriate light, etc.

hi, no it`s very definate under his neck, grey in colour, on top of his neck you can see what you were talking about, if i can work out how to put a photo on i will, thanks for replying.
