beak and feet

Rainbow really preens and cleans his feet A LOT. Is this ok or should I watch to make sure it does not turn into chewing? He also grinds his beak loudly. Guess I am not use to this bigger louder sounds. Our cockatiel Maggie is a quiet little girl LOL

It's normal. They will pick away at little flakes of skin on their feet and bite their nails and such. The beak grinding is a sound of contentedness and typical of bedtime.

Oh thank you so much. We adopted Rainbow 2 days ago. He is a rescue bird who had plucked out his feathers due to neglect and no interaction, toys etc. It is wonderful to hear that the beak grinding is a sound of contentment.
He is still in the white fuzzy stage of his regrowth but we think he is beautiful anyway
Grinding noise

Hi,
My guys make a grinding noise with their beaks when they are sleepy and happy. I now quite like the sound because it indicates they are feeling quite settled. My guys also like to spend time with their feet. They even hold them up in front of their faces and have a bit of a chat with them.
