Is this normal?

Hi guys- Not sure if this is in the right spot, as I've attached a video of what I'd like you guys to hear..

My IRN Choco always makes these sounds whether he's in his cage on the floor or on my shoulder and only to me.
I haven't heard these sounds from any other Ringneck like the way he does before..are these sounds normal? What does he want exactly? Will he ever be quiet!? It is really quite annoying, and it has me baffled as my other IRN (male- no longer with me) never ever made these sounds!

He will talk to the other birds that come to visit nearby but they are the more normal sounding IRN noises that we all know and love (well at least me!)

What do you all think?

An IRN's sounds and vocal ability / variety depend on its environment or experiences it enjoyed hearing... that noise sounds like a funny version of my younger bubs when weaning "pls pls gimme some soft sqishy foods, cos i loves you lots" etc etc or "awww, awww, attention... i do this and i notice i get attention... attention generally means food or cuddles, so get to it".

There is nothing bad about that noise that I could tell... you can have two IRN owned by two diff people... one will have the characteristic IRN noise.. another will have been bombarded with voice / music / other birds so much that its vocal ability might sound nothing like the 'norm'.

If you want a highly varied sound from your bird, you have to be able to provide that variation to it one way or another.

Some noises they will just experiment and play with / come to their favourite idea anyway.

You have to remember its just a bub... and the stereotype that all birds do the same thing is highly misplaced. Like humans... they are a product of their environment.

I also found that constant variety / wider variety of noises the bird makes, there is alot less screaming to be done.

Hiya and thanks!

He was raised along side Cockatiel babies, with Cockatoos and other assorted parrots in and around the house so that might have something to do with it.

His squeak is just rather odd-it reminds me of a seagull or a rusty swing!

He'll come running over on his perch and put his head out and down while keeping eye contact and "talk" --he's certainly different!

Maybe your bird wants a scratch, are you allowed to handle your bird?

Yeah, I can handle him no problems at all. He'll make the noise with me around whether he's in his cage, on the floor, on my shoulder, being talked to, being scratched, any time! It just must be Choco- I sure find him different!

He'll even stop practising talking/whistling/singing to the other birds if I wolf whistle or call his name...for him just to start his little chirps lol.

Hi,
Choco's lil squeek sounds just like the same squeek that our Luna...blue female, makes for my husband when he enters the room. Luna is a daddy's girl some times. She has the ( Daddy squeek ) only for my husband. And her little ( mommy cluck ) for me. So I think the sound your baby is doing, is what she has named you, or her own sound just for you. It shows that she recognizes who you are. And is useing a name or sound just for you. :D Luna clucks when she is talking to me or looking for me or when I enter the room. So that is what she has named me. :D
