Hi,

I have recently got me a male Alexandrine parakeet, however, I am not sure how old he is. Can anyone please help me understand?

Also, how do I train him to be comfortable around the people in the house and how do I teach him to speak a few words? Any advice would be highly appreciated!

from the pic.. it appears that you have a fully adult cock bird.. and if its currently wild then its likely to remain so and be stressed under such a confinement.. suggest you let him into a bigger flight aviary .. he may calm down but never to a point where you will see him engage in a conversation.
if he is tame you may expect him to learn a word or two.. to help him settle down..do not scare him by approaching unnecessarily.. just let him understand the feeding and cleaning routine..when you do this engage with him..he must learn to trust you..good luck.
