I don't know if I should be concerned or not!
Do you see your IRNs drink their water?
Maybe she does when I'm not home, but I
swear the water level doesn't move!
I just got her last Thursday for a local Avian rescue...
so maybe she's just freaked out still?
I also don't see the food leaving her dish....
Is it because I'm spoiling her with hand fed goodies?
Between me and my kids she is getting tons of fruit and other stuff!
Maybe she's full! LOL
Thanks!

Two things I've noticed.
My IRN does drink his water, but he also loves it when I mist his cage with a spray bottle so he can get a bath. he then drinks the water that drips down on the bars from his cage.
Also if you feed them things that have a high water content like watermelon or oranges... they get water from that as well.

Well, right now, she is scared of being sprayed,
although they did try to tell me that she liked it!
And YES, she is getting grapes and apples....
so maybe she isn't thirsty.....
I hope I'm just missing it!!!

try giving her some fruit juice, there's a good chance you will get to see her drink juice.

Hi- congrats on you new addition, and good for you for rescuing!
Here are some tips Ive learned thru experience w/my baby Bodhi...
Try to give more really nutritious treats like fresh carrot, sweet potato, and dark leafy greens instead of apple or grapes-give those as occasional treat only. And a special goody is babyfood veggie formulas-I give my boy "Natures Best" organic spring vegetables w/pasta- its loaded w/Vit A-
it comes in a jar, look in babyfood section of most groceries for it and other flavors-get the chunky or "3rd stage" types if you can. These also have high water content of course. Have fun! -Sue & Bodhi

THANKS!

)
I do give her veggies everyday she gobbles them up!
When she gets her dish she makes happy chirping
sounds and rubs her beak al over the side of the bowl!!
SO CUTE!
She is eating AND drinking well now....
it must have been an adjustment period

)
Basically now ....she is just biting the you-know-what out of me!
But she has sweet moments too, just not often, YET!
Patience...
Patience...
Patience...

YES-patience IS the key...and it sounds like you are a wonderful adoptive mom!! Your new girl is very lucky to have you! I'm glad she is adjusting-I bet she will become quite attached to you before long-IRNs are so smart-they know when they have a good thing! Best wishes-Sue&Bodhi
