like what you've done with ladders and bendy bars btw...!
ziggy got loads of bendies, but little ladders a good idea too..

Gorgeous, whatever he/she is...

Yes, ladders are great, and I'm sure they have been secured with something, so they won't fall down. I use a lot of cable ties, which not even Cory can chew through.

Hey thanks everyone for the reply

I loved the latter idea i had! I had two and i was hmmmmm and i did that.

He loves that thing in the back that is the rope thing not the spiral but the other thing. he gets on it and sleeps and gets inside it and plays with that bell.

:D
Thanks :D

I guess female

ok im really kinda of sick of lene causeing all the promblems on my blogs.

All i siad was that sometimes she comes across rude because english is her second laugauge> SO that is why that came up.

The only reason i made a comment bout her is i thought i was very smart alec and was being very sacractic.

So now that this is said ITS OVER haha

i dont mean to come across rude but i made this for oliver

Its little comments thrown in here and there that are getting to Justin.I'm sure he knows what to do ect, and doesn't need to be told all the time.Maybe if someone wants to bring attention to ladders being tied down ect they could start a thread about it?

Im voting male,

Amazon hated his ladder tied with cable ties he got the cable ties off to throw his ladder around, clever boy.

Oliver is just beatiful, and i really do have to say MALE.

Justin i love you picture on the side but is there any way you could maybe make it a little bit smaller so i can see the writing and photos on the one page without having to go across, not getting at you just asking. Thanks.

I'm originally from Denmark, have been in Australia since '83.. Came here with hubby and 3 kids... The kids are now grown up, hubby re-married, and I discovered birds..

This comment was really for the benefit of new bird people. It looks like it's just resting on the perch, and I didn't want anyone to think that a good idea, even though it might feel secure. Also for the benefit of the new people I said I use a lot of cable ties to secure odd things like that... Some people might need a few simple ideas to do what Justin did.

I'm sorry I offend you, Justin... It's not my intention, and from now on I shall try and not post on 'your blog'

 All sorted. Sorry if I stirred something up. I just didn't want any misunderstandings. But its all worked out now. We all understand each other. :D

Anyhoo, love flight shots, so angelic! I love what you've done with those ladders! I think I'm going to get some ladders, since they love to forage around down the bottom of the cage too.
I see you have an xbox too. Do you have xbox live? :D My partner is constantly on the thing.. it drives me insane! haha.

hiya,
From what ive read he seems like a male.
I read that some people swear that their female IRN's have a faint green ring but the males have black with pink, blue and another colour (cant remeber it though) round their necks.
You wouldnt belive how much ive read up on this sort of bird in just a few hours. :)

well i found one this morning which lead me to come on this site as i just want to know how to handle it incase his owner doesnt come forward but by the looks of it this one must be fully grown as including its longest tail feathers its like 16 inches long or there abouts.
havent got a clue what im doing but thanks to this site i managed to give him a bowl of yellow pepper, asparagus, lettuce and corn.
your oliver is beautiful by the way. i think if the owner comes forward fo this bird and comes to get it i will get on of my own.

But it is now munching on popcorn and i have posted some pics in the phot forum now.
Thanks to donna i managed to find out that its an alexandrine ringneck and is about 3 years old.
I just want to know if the cage is big enough for him!!!

Posted: Sun Jan 20, 2008 8:53 pm

Irns and Alexandrines i think both love and need pretty roomy cages! :D :D

I agree wholeheartedly - as big as the room will allow.
Especially if they are going to spend some time in it during the day.
Hey Lene, hope you realised the 2nd language was a Kiwi dig at Aussies
Bit of the old trans-tasman niggle - can't resist;-)
Going to have to watch it tho - am seriously, seriously outnumbered here!!!!!
And how was Lauren's 1st week back at work, and how did birdies cope without their mum all day for a whole week?

um i think lauren didnt like it or it didnt work out of something.

I really dont know you will have to ask her

Does anyone know how to do the dna sexing thing

Do you just send feathes in?

or do you call and get a kit?

???????

http://www.avianbiotech.com

They will send you a form and a free testing kit to you. Fill the form out if you want feathers tested or blood. Send the sample in with your money feather sexing is $24.50 per sample and blood sexing is $19.50 per sample. They will e-mail you the results and send you a certificate proof of DNA.

I used to leave Max with my parents when I went away. That way he had no choice!! He would have been a similar age to Oliver when I started doing that (18 months?).

He was fine with them until I got home, (then wouldn't go near them) so maybe you should leave Oliver with your parents for a period of time longer than usual - overnight might be enough - and let him realise that you aren't the only one who takes care of him.

Max also got used to people he saw a lot of, not strangers though.

HOWEVER.... it may be the case that Oliver only likes blokes! Happens a lot. Friend of mine has a lorie that won't go near males at all, only females.
