I just got my larger cage and am wondering if I can house two birds in the same cage. Would two males get along or would it be best to do male and female. I have my 5 month old lutino and the woman that sells them has baby grays too. Males are $150 and females are $100. She has several breeding pairs so if you buy a couple of them you don't get related birds. They are also all handfed. My baby is just the sweetest little guy. I keep hearing about this bluffing stage. Do they all go through it. I just can't imagine mine bluffing. I walk to the cage and he dances wanting me to open the cage. I open the door and he come right out and jumps on my hand. I don't want him to change.

Any thought on the housing issue would be great.

Generally, with the exception of aviaries, we do not condone housing ringnecks together... ever.

It can get bloody, even if the birds usually get along. One may have a bad day and decide he is tired of looking at the other and take him out. Happens too often.

I just did a search and wow was there alot to read. I have decided that I will have two cages. I was given to very very large parrot cages last week. I guess it was meant to be so I could put one in each cage.

I keep hearing how mean they the ringneck bird can be. I just can't imagine my guy being mean. He was a hand fed baby and I got him at 4 months of age. I've only had him 12 days. He is the sweetest little guy he paces in his cage until I open it and then he comes to the door wanting out. He wants to be with me ALWAYS. I try to leave him in his cage because I don't want him to think everytime he squaks or dance he gets out of his cage. I work 8 hour days and I want him to be content in his cage too. He has lots of toys, ropes, ladders etc but he would much rather be out with me.

Pretty birdie, I'd like to cuddle him too.
But you have to expect some change as he matures.
Think of human babies and the changes they go through to
adulthood or even a puppy as it changes to an adult or a kitten
as it grows to adult. They all undergo changes to adult behavior.
So enjoy the baby you have and look forward to the changes and
challenges it can present along with all the neat things you'll teach him.

My Baby is the sweetest thing too but I am noticing him start to mature. He just started his lil "male dances" this weekend. Also, he's starting to get moody and snappy. That's when he goes back to the cage!
