HELP

Post by Lyng1965 »

I have a blue lacewing hen which we are having problems with, she has been with a blue lacewing cock for about three weeks but annoys the hell out of him. Doesn't actually hurt him but chases him all over the cage. She was a single bird pet that was semi tame. We tried to take him out and put in a Latino but she attacked him within minutes it was a new cage and new environment for both of them. So we have put the blue lacewing back in with her. She seems to tolerate him but does chase him. She has been going into the nest box regularly and is working it. The question is are we wasting our time with her?? or do you think she will come good. Also how long should they be paired before breeding season are we too late we are on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland.
Thanks for any help.

Hi Lyn,

You said:

If she was working the box then it is too late to change the male. Up the coast breeding season has started.
I suggest you do as you said; to put the Lutino male back in and let them breed as is for this season.
If you think she's too agressive toward the lutino male maybe you should clip a few feathers off one of her wings just to slow her down a tad.
