Caging together

Post by risen fury »

hi everybody....my question is can I put my 3 month baby ringneck and anather baby bird like budgie or Cockatiel in same cage....since I'm from india and its really difficult for me to bring anather baby IRN because selling and buying of IRN,s is strictly prohibited...however I can get adult IRN,s but they are totally wild since they are caught illegally in jungles

Hi,

From what I have read about ringnecks it would probably not be safe to cage it with another type bird. IRNs can be very aggressive to smaller birds, hurting or even killing them. If you want to get a budgie or cockatiel it will need it's own cage.

I agree. Just as an example...when I brought my 3 month old IRN home he did this weird "you're my mommy I love you" head bob thing to my cockatiel. It was quite strange lol. Anyway, now at 5 months old he's not a fan of my cockatiel any longer. Maybe it could work in an aviary setting, but not a cage setting.
I am owned by my birds...and I wouldn't have it any other way :D
