bird dead

Hi all, Just went out to avairy to feed birds and one of my ringnecks is dead, he/she was fine yesterday talking and jumping about like usual, there were no marks on him/her like might of had a fight with one of the other birds, so was woundering if any body had any ideas? Thanks Leigh

Very sorry to hear that.

How many birds do you have in the aviary? Is it breeding season where you are? I know you said there were no marks on the bird... but in breeding season females can get quite aggressive. You should never keep more than one breeding pair in the same aviary during breeding season and sometimes a female will kill her mate during breeding season.

If you're not sure what caused it, it may be worth an autopsy if you're worried that it might have a disease that could spread.

Hi thanks I am so upset he was such a cool bird talked so much. I'm in NZ and no not breeding season and yes do take each pair out. Was thinking of an autopsy. Thanks again for your reply Leigh
