Biting? or exploring

Post by Bsbllshrtstp »

My Indian Ringneck, Jordy, is exactly a year old. S/he is really sweet most of the time and likes getting head scratches. However sometimes she bites. If im laying on the couch she will crawl on my lap and nip at my pants and shirt. Sometimes she nips the skin under my pants or shirt. I cant tell if it's exploratory or aggressive. I try to ignore it but she needs to get off me so I cant completely ignore it. How can i try to eliminate this.

Thanks for the help,

Tom

Hey Tom,

My bird does the same thing, Really stings when they get your skin instead of the clothing doesn't it.

I've reduced the amount of biting my bird does by holding the back of my hand (clenched in a fist) to my bird so when he goes to bite he can't grab anything. As for the actual biting of clothing, Keep a toy or something around and when he/she goes to bite just distract him/her with it, Seems to have cut down on the biting of clothing for gene.
