I just got myself a IRN by stroke of luck. I posted on the other section for help taming describing my dilema.

I hope to get good sound advice and have been reading all previous posts to see what others may be going through.

You found someones pet and it needs to be replaced. Unless he is fully flighted and you live in India, for example.

If he isnt flighted, he couldnt have gotten far. Hang flyers and call vets near you. Put an ad in the paper.

That bird could be someones best friend/child. Please consider that.

That bird could be missing and loaning to be with their choosen person. Please, try to get him back to his owner. If you have no luck, after a SINCERE try, you can keep him with no quilt. Otherwise, you stole the bird. This isnt finders keepers, we are adults.

If I found out someone had my Baby and didnt make an effort to put it out into the community, I'd regretably have to hand out a few **** whoopins. Literally. A little jail time would be well worth it.

To understand what Im saying, one would have to be in love with their bird (Chamon and I are the worst). We cant differentiate that they arent actually real children hehe.

Mikaela is right. You should be trying to find the owners. These are really not known for being wild birds, with the exception of a few places. Please please try to find that birds parronts. They might be frantically searching. If you don't heard back from anyone then you can keep it. On the fliers you post do not mention color or anything that might ID the bird; let the owners ID him for you.

If anyone had my baby and didn't try to get her back to me I'd be so upset. Jail time would sound good...

Hi mikaela,

How do I know if a bird is fully flighted. When we were trying to get him, he was able to fly long distances but seems just too tired to keep going. He does have a full looking wing. I am pretty confident his wings are not altered. We had him checked at a vet and no ID of anykind on him. We have been looking at the newspaper for missing bird posts but nothing yet.
I will try the flyer Idea. How far do you think I should post them from the spot we found him? How far can they fly and is it possible he could have flewn over from several towns over? I live in an area that is very croweded and all towns here border eachother.

Willing to try and do what is right.

I too live in a town like that. 3 counties that happen to interconnect here in Tampa.

I just suggest you do what you feel is enough, then if all fails, the bird is yours. I just know how much I love my Baby and if she ever got away... it would be really bad. The finder wouldnt be looking for me, I'd be looking for them!

The burdon of proof is on you, please post pics or any info if you have of the lost IRN if you think it is yours. I will require photogrphic proof and veterinarian proof to be fully convinced that you are the owner and not just trying to get a free bird. Please post information here or message me.

digitalpoodle - I am glad that you are trying to reunite bird and parronts. I would be absolutely shattered if my Squeak ever disappeared.

I raised him/her from day 1 and I am not even that attached to my real kids Somebody tried to tell me one day that Squeak was a bird - they were so wrong. I also know that if Squeak did ever escape then he/she would stress probably more than me.

I would be in a screaming heap on the floor. Every possible moment this bird is with me.

Please continue to try to find the parronts and put the flyers around your surrounding areas.

Also it may be hard to provide veterinarian proof that the bird belongs to them as they may have never had to take the bird to the vet. If somebody claims to be the parronts then you will know by the reaction of the bird when they turn up. Trust me on that one - If the bird is truly bonded with them the bird will let you know.
