Male sleeping in nest with female and her eggs??

Post by baybee27 »

My hen has 5 eggs that she is sitting on and willk hatch out by the 22-30 of MArch. All of a sudden, the male, her mate, has been sleeping all night and morning with her in the box with her and the eggs. Is this normal for IRNs? Will she turn on him? Should I not let him? ANd, what is he doing in there anyhow. My guess, from the gentle tip toeing I hear, is that he is sitting on the eggs at night. My only concern is that she may harm him (although she hasnt since they have been breeding) and they housed all year long together..:)

Many IRN parents both care for the eggs as a team. It's normal for him to be in there, she shouldn't turn on him.
