Color of new baby chicks

Post by Jan »

Hi all,

I have taken a skyblue female and a olive male to mate this year.
The female hatched 3 beautifull chicks. two are i presume skyblue and the other one, well don't know.
he is not grey by color more like a very light beige. I have never seen this color before. any one that can tell me the color of the light colored IRN chick.

I would say its silver (grey blue cinnimon) and that means your male must is greygreen split blue cinnimon, and not an olive.

It is the only way you can get both silver and sky blue baies that i can see.

Thanks Glenn

No worries Jan.

Below are the possible outcomes of the babies those two will breed..

1.0 grey(sf) green /blue cinnamon
x 0.1 blue cinnamon
% from all 1.0
12.5% 1.0 grey(sf) blue /cinnamon
12.5% 1.0 blue /cinnamon
12.5% 1.0 grey(sf) green /blue cinnamon
12.5% 1.0 green /blue cinnamon
12.5% 1.0 grey(sf) blue cinnamon
12.5% 1.0 blue cinnamon
12.5% 1.0 grey(sf) green cinnamon /blue
12.5% 1.0 green cinnamon /blue
% from all 0.1
12.5% 0.1 grey(sf) blue
12.5% 0.1 blue
12.5% 0.1 grey(sf) green /blue
12.5% 0.1 green /blue
12.5% 0.1 grey(sf) blue cinnamon
12.5% 0.1 blue cinnamon
12.5% 0.1 grey(sf) green cinnamon /blue
12.5% 0.1 green cinnamon /blue

The part before / is the visual colour of the babies and the part after / are the colour genes the babies carry.

Thanks Glenn
