Is this typical behaviour?

My ringneck Jessie does this thing where she (or he) holds her wings out a little and bows her head. She generally does this if she wants me to pat her, or sees that I am about to pat her. i thought the bahaviour might be specific to her a certain sex? Im still trying to figure out what sex she is.

hey ther challi,

please check out this link to a video of my female ringneck doing the same thing with my wife.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vZObWt4Y ... 79503e6199

our ringneck has been DNA tested and confirmed female, but this behaviour is only new. She is about 18 months old now and i have been told by someone on this forum that it is probably because she is coig into sason that she is displying this new behaviour. we also have an 8 month old male, and she does her little mating dnace to him, but he is too young to know what she is going on about so just ignores her. This frustrates her to no end, and she gets the shits and ends up snapping at him! its pretty funny, but we have to keep an eye on them when they are together because she gets a bit physical sometimes.

hope it helps.

Hi Lags,

Watched your video, very cute!!!and my gorgeous IRN does the same EVERY time I pat her!! She approaches me and displays like this!!
I've read soo many people commenting on other sites that this is wrong and that they are being sexually stimulated but what is one to do? My Bluey just loves to be cuddled and petted! and this is her way of expressing her happiness I suppose.

So while she is happy and I am happy... we will continue our little ritual! :)
