do i need to supply a box after mating

Post by babygirl »

Yesterday two of my Latino ringnecks mated. Seen them in the act at least 5 times over the day. I didn't even know the two had even paired up. my other pair a blue cock and grey hen have been kissing for months but not seen them mate. I'm moving in the next 2weeks to a month as my house has sold. my question is if they have been now mating will she need to lay eggs or if I don't supply a next box she wont lay without causing her any harm. hope that makes sense. and if I do give her a box how long till she starts laying after mating?

Hey babygirl,

Sorry for the late reply! I must have missed this. My apologies. I would place a box inside the aviary if you're looking to breed. If you don't have the time or don't wish to worry about a few more ringies, just don't put a box up.

After mating, most ringnecks will produce eggs right away. I know it's been a few weeks since you posted this, did you decide to place a box in their aviary?

Best Wishes  ,
