I grumble and groan through the whole darn thing  the broom is my right arm. Apparently the purpose of seed guards is lost on my crew so I took them off the cages. They were weapons anyway. Ever clean a cockatoo cage  yesterday he destroyed an entire kabob, chewed up two foot toys, went through a chicken leg, and made pellet soup. And don't get me started on the what goes in must come out part  but I love them. they didn't ask to be kept in captivity so it's my job to make sure that they have the highest level of care I can offer. No matter how gross it is sometimes  plus I can't stand weird smells and stepping on squishy half eaten food. I can tell you're young, but you have a really good attitude towards animals. You're birds are lucky :)

Yup I'm 25, i like that you say its your job to give them the best care you can offer, if only every person felt that way who decided to get pets.. I get so sad when i see people getting pets, loving them as babies, and then kinda go on with their lives and just give them a pat here and there, they start to mean less and less gradualy and yet, the animals never lose an ounce of love for their owners, its kinda depressing thinking of it like that but its the truth. My family comes to me all the time and are amazed at my birds attitudes, the things they do, the way they whistle etc, and yet they don't understand why their pets aren't the same, when they don't give their animals nearly as much time as i do, to them, pets are just something to spend some leftover attention on, and give them some love when they are lonely or bored, I'm late for work almost every day spending half my morning still playing with my birds xD

But to get to the point, yes, my birds are lovely animals, and much more lovable and playful than most birds, this (as you know) is simply due to the fact that they get the amount of love and attention as any pet should, they became part of the family the day i decided to accept them as pets, and i absolutely hate it when people don't realise this, and then come to people like me asking questions!

There i go ranting again, ill stop now now.

By the way, a violet ringneck?? Its the first time i ever see one, Hamlet is beautiful!

Good rant, btw.
I think a lot of people hold this unhealthy idea that we are important when compared to any other lifeform and, therefore, don't think it's necessary to put a lot of thought into an animals perspective  oops I'm starting to rant too

Lovely birds and a credit to you!, I got rid of the seed guards too, they are rubbish and not fit for purpose, now I use broadsheet newspaper folded up at the sides, and it does an excellent job. The only time I get a bit miffed, is when Sanjay splats down my curtains!, my ceiling is so high I have to climb up to clean it off before it dries hard,
