I'm by FAR no expert, though a 6 week old baby is going to be vocal I believe. A baby will call to its flock and parents, just as a human baby will cry when it wants something - or even for no other reason at all than to demand affection and attention.

This is what children do - of all species.

Since you're seen as its mother without another, older bird available at all times - I would imagine it would expect that of you.

Spending a number of years in the military, you learn rather rapidly to tune out displeasing noises simply to maintain sanity. Mothers often necessitate this skill as well, as hearing their babies cry 24/7/365 would otherwise drive them insane (at least this is how my wife described it for our son).

I don't really have an answer outside of that myself... I just received my 17 week old IRN Wednesday, and he's extremely silent. Hardly makes a sound at all outside of when he is on our shoulder watching YouTube of other IRNs and hears them. I've so far attested this that he's still very skittish, and unsure of his new home and family - but doesn't really relate to your situation.

That said... since my IRN is the polar opposite it would seem of yours - albeit 2.5x the age - I honestly couldn't provide an answer. Perhaps it is an age deal?

Another here can likely provide a far more sound response.

I think babies do scream, but is'nt he hungry as well? Is he getting enough food. Does he still scream after his feed?

My alexandrine baby does this when he is hungry. But he also does it when he wants attention. Start introducing more toys into his daily schedule. :)
I am owned by my birds...and I wouldn't have it any other way :D

I agree that this is just something baby's do when they want you to feed them and for attention. Your bird will eventually grow out of it. We brought Janey home at around 6 weeks and she did it for a while too. At first I found it distressing (the baby won't stop crying) but then you grow used to it... and then you miss it when it stops.
