I recently got a Female Indian Ringneck. I need help, she will not stop attacking my baby Jenday conure, also a female -- is this why? I would appreciate some advice on how to help them make friends.
Re: New
was this after the standard 30 day quarantine?
never put a new bird in with your current pets (as the new bird might have an unknown disease/parasite).
Keep them in a separate room in separate cages to rid yourself of the risk of infecting your current birds..
After the quarantine:
I try to familiarize my birds with each other is usually by putting their cages side by side.
so they can get used to each other and their whistles, chatter.
next step is to take them both out of their comfort zones (Cages) and let them interact in a neutral zone (an Open area like the center of the living room works great). start it out in a few minutes session every day.. increasing their interaction time weekly.
Normally that helps me..
You have to remember that all birds have their own distinct personalities..
Birds are like people.. some get along instantly, others it takes time, some will never get along..
Patience is key. Hope this helps.
