What Should I Expect

Post by missybubbygirl »

Hi All
Not sure if this is the right section to ask this question but here goes.
I have a blue male and a grey IRN hen that are starting to work the nesting box [ both taking turns in going into it, sometimes they both are in it at the same time ] as it is near the end of there breeding season here in South Australia is it likely that they will breed? this is there 1st time together also what color baby's are they likely to have?

Also I have another pair the male is grey and the hen is olive what color should I expect to get from them.
Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Missybuddygirl, from the blue cock to grey(sf)blue hen you will get both 50% grey and blue cocks and hens.

if i'm correct for pair 2, 1.0 grey(sf)blue
x 0.1 D green

% from all1.0
25% 1.0 grey(sf)green/blue
25% 1.0 green/blue
25% 1.0 D grey(sf)green/blue
25% 1.0 D green /blue

% from all 0.1
the results will the same as for the cocks unless the hen is a grey(sf)green. and this would give you.
25% grey(df)green/blue
50%grey(sf)green/blue
25%green/blue . this is for both cocks and hens.

Hi Smick olive is a double dark factor green so the correct calculation would be as follows

1.0 grey(sf) blue
x 0.1 DD green
% from all 1.0
50.0% 1.0 D grey(sf) green /blue
50.0% 1.0 D green /blue
% from all 0.1
50.0% 0.1 D grey(sf) green /blue
50.0% 0.1 D green /blue

So the chick will be dark greygreen and dark green with all chicks split for blue in both cocks and hens

Thanks
Lushen
