Not sure what "color" 2 of my babies are
First I have a baby from a Blue male and grey female. I have had this pair for 7-8 years and they always throw blue, grey and what I was calling lacewings. However after reading some of the posts on here I am not so sure that is what they are. This baby is very light silver with a white tail and MAYBE a white head (too soon to be sure). Really pretty bird.
Second I have a baby from a blue male and a turquoise female, they usually throw all turquoise babies but I have a Ino (red eyes) with what appears to be a white tail (possibly anyway)and the body appears whit with a pale lemon wash coloring over the head and wings. Gorgeous bird.
They are still being hand fed and not fully feathered yet (The second one is almost fully feathered).
I would love to know the proper names for these birds if anyone can help.

Sounds like a turquoise ino (creamino) and a gray pallid(lacewing). Both would be females since they are sex linked mutations.

Re: Not sure what "color" 2 of my babies are
The chick from the first pair is definitely a grey lacewing, the parents genetics are possibly as follows
1.0 blue /pallid
x 0.1 grey(sf) blue
% from all 1.0
25.0% 1.0 grey(sf) blue /pallid
25.0% 1.0 blue /pallid
25.0% 1.0 grey(sf) blue
25.0% 1.0 blue
% from all 0.1
25.0% 0.1 grey(sf) blue
25.0% 0.1 blue
25.0% 0.1 grey(sf) blue pallid
25.0% 0.1 blue pallid
So the grey lacewing would be female. Though if this is the correct genetics they should also throw blue lacewing females.
Thanks
Lushen
1.0 blue /pallid
x 0.1 grey(sf) blue
% from all 1.0
25.0% 1.0 grey(sf) blue /pallid
25.0% 1.0 blue /pallid
25.0% 1.0 grey(sf) blue
25.0% 1.0 blue
% from all 0.1
25.0% 0.1 grey(sf) blue
25.0% 0.1 blue
25.0% 0.1 grey(sf) blue pallid
25.0% 0.1 blue pallid
So the grey lacewing would be female. Though if this is the correct genetics they should also throw blue lacewing females.
Thanks

Re: Not sure what "color" 2 of my babies are
Second chick definitely a creamino, possible genetics for the parents are as follows
1.0 blue /ino
x 0.1 turquoise(parblue)Blue
% from all 1.0
25.0% 1.0 blue /ino
25.0% 1.0 turquoise(parblue)Blue /ino

25.0% 0.1 turquoise(parblue)Blue ino
25.0% 0.1 blue
25.0% 0.1 turquoise(parblue)Blue
Or as follows
1.0 blue /ino
x 0.1 turquoise(parblue)
% from all 1.0
50.0% 1.0 turquoise(parblue)Blue /ino
50.0% 1.0 turquoise(parblue)Blue
% from all 0.1
50.0% 0.1 turquoise(parblue)Blue ino
50.0% 0.1 turquoise(parblue)Blue
In both cases the creamino chick can only be a female
Thanks

Re: Not sure what "color" 2 of my babies are
Now this is just a suggestion for a future season, swop the hens around so that the blue/pallid cock is with the blue turq hen and the results should be as follows
1.0 blue /pallid
x 0.1 turquoise(parblue)Blue
% from all 1.0
25.0% 1.0 blue /pallid
25.0% 1.0 turquoise(parblue)Blue /pallid
25.0% 1.0 blue
25.0% 1.0 turquoise(parblue)Blue
% from all 0.1
25.0% 0.1 blue
25.0% 0.1 turquoise(parblue)Blue
25.0% 0.1 blue pallid
25.0% 0.1 turquoise(parblue)Blue pallid
Here you will produce a blue turquoise lacewing female chick as well as blue lacewing female chick
Or as follows
1.0 blue /pallid
x 0.1 turquoise(parblue)
% from all 1.0
50.0% 1.0 turquoise(parblue)Blue /pallid
50.0% 1.0 turquoise(parblue)Blue
% from all 0.1
50.0% 0.1 turquoise(parblue)Blue
50.0% 0.1 turquoise(parblue)Blue pallid
Here you will only get a blue turquoise lacewing female
Then the Blue/ino male to the Grey female and result as follows
1.0 blue /ino
x 0.1 grey(sf) blue
% from all 1.0
25.0% 1.0 grey(sf) blue /ino
25.0% 1.0 blue /ino
25.0% 1.0 grey(sf) blue
25.0% 1.0 blue
% from all 0.1
25.0% 0.1 grey(sf) blue ino
25.0% 0.1 blue ino
25.0% 0.1 grey(sf) blue
25.0% 0.1 blue
Here you will produce an albino female as well as a greyino female which I would like to see what this looks like.
If you produce these chicks then you will know the genetic history of the birds that you have and you will have new colour birds as well which cost you nothing, but remember, it may take a few seasons to get these colours or you may get them in the first season, all has to do with a bit of luck
Thanks

Re: Not sure what "color" 2 of my babies are
I do believe the Creamino is a female (I quite often can tell from the behaviour lol).
The grey lacewing however I do believe is a male (again from behaviour). That pair do also throw blue lacewings, which in the past have been males (Dna'd). They have had grey lacewings before but since they were kept as pets by their owners and never DNA'd, I don't know what they were.
Thank you so much for all the wonderful information on this site!

Re: Not sure what "color" 2 of my babies are
Ok now I'm confused cos according to my calculations, both the grey lacewing, blue lacewing and creamino should be females, I've got to rethink this one through and will get back to you

Re: Not sure what "color" 2 of my babies are
The grey lacwing came from a blue (not blue pallid) male and a grey female, if that helps.

Re: Not sure what "color" 2 of my babies are
Yes noted, but in order to throw pallid chicks, one of the parents need to be split for pallid and females cannot be split for sexlinked mutations, so definitely the blue cock is split for pallid

Re: Not sure what "color" 2 of my babies are
Can any of the more experienced guys give some input on the possible genetics of the parents, as now I'm confused, can't seem to have any options to produce blue lacewing males from that paring
Thanks
