Re: Hi I am new here!!!
Welcome Louise.
I would lean heavily if Dexter is already showing signs of developing a definite black ring, to be more than 14 weeks old. Especially if the vet thinks he is large for that age. Depending on just how much bigger Dexter is, he could be an Alexandrine or Alex cross IRN.
My babies do get a faint darker ring but no black ring. I have a 2.5 year old ringie that has just moulted in his ring.
What colour is Dexter?

Re: Hi I am new here!!!
I agree Dexter is older than 14 weeks which would indicate why the vet thinks he is big for his age. At 14 weeks of age, my babies still have their big brown 'baby' eyes, not the adult looking eyes Dexter seems to be showing.
Either way, Dexter is a lovely looking bird.

Re: Hi I am new here!!!
These bubs were aprox 15-16 weeks old when the photo was taken.
See how their eyes are still brown compared to your bird?
I am not 100% sure when they get their adult looking eyes, maybe around 6 months of age? I do not really take that much notice.
Someone else could have a better idea.
