now is a good time to give him scratches and get him used to being touched. He will really like the scratches when his feathers are coming through, touch him around the beak to get him familiar with your hands.

Have you given him a name yet?

There are so many nice names, but you should choose one you think suits his personality!!

Congrats hey, he growing nicely.

hello friend, you will soon see when he is nearly ready to fly, he will stand and flap his wings as hard as he can until he hovers, and it is best to keep him indoors now in case he surprises you and takes off, you do know you cannot clip the wings yourself?

He must be taken to a vet or petstore to have his wings clipped as you can hurt him if you try to do it yourself.

I don't know about Alexandrine's but I was told that if you choose to clip a baby IRNs wings, you need to give them about two weeks of being able to fly before you get them clipped. This is important because otherwise they won't learn to land properly.

I clipped Janey's too early because she was landing on our high ceiling fans and chewing the wires. I wish I hadn't though because she isn't a very confident flyer / lander now.

Our second bird, Charlie, stayed at the breeder longer and the breeder kept his wings unclipped for two weeks before clipping them and he flies much more confidently than Janey.

Being able to land is really important even if they t have clipped wings.

Good luck.

Ellie.

He can be put in a normal cage, as long as it is big enough for him, and as long as it has perches near the bottom, for him to learn to climb on, and a water dish with water that he can reach from the bottom of the cage is always good as well :D

they generally eat their own poop when they are lacking a certain vitamin or mineral in their bodies ( no ones knows which or what) but adding supplements and a mineral block seems to help with this. my pied ringneck did this when she was young, after taking her to see vet and getting supp and mineral blocks she stopped after about a month.
