Cactus fruit

Is it safe to give Cactus fruit to birds?

Funny you ask that I have some sitting in my kitchen and was wondering the same thing!!

I did eventually give them the fruit, they didn't so much as eat it as inhale it!

I did notice that their paper was really wet, so I was concerned that maybe it upset their stomaches, but when I gave them a spray, I noticed they had stuck feathers from the juice.

so I've conclued that they can eat them, they didn't upset tummy or sick. I have a lot of fruit trees and cactus pear plants, and I found they love guavas and orange leaves, which i took away from them because I don't know if that's ok for even people to eat, much less a bird! I don't know of other birds or even bugs that eat citrus leaves. :?:

I wouldn't give the citrus leaves either lol! For no reason other than the one you stated. Though I cannot find anything listing it as dangerous.

Wild parrots are even known to cause damage to cactus crops. :lol:
