what is this knocking all about? constantly by the male I beklieve./. Also when I looked in the box all shavings have been shoved to side.. Do I need more of something else maybe? are these signs of getting near time? These birds are very flighty back and forth(the male) in and out of nest box..Help please

It sounds like they are ready!
The knocking you are referring to it looks like the male hits their beak and come up with dilated pupils and make a little noise? It is flirting! I think of it as those old Tarzan movies where the man beats on his chest! No offense to the men readers out there, but it does!
The throwing around of the shavings and bedding is an excellant sign.!I wonder too why I put it down because it seems like they dig to the bottom of the box. But it helps hold the eggs togther and for warm when momma goes to strech her legs. I would not add more, I think they are getting ready!
You are two for three (with three being the mating) for getting eggs and hopefully babies!
