Joining in the fun
My pair have finally had their first successful family!
2 chicks, maybe 3, hatched around Thursday or Friday.
Will know for sure how many soon, just want to give mum some space as it's her first successful breed, and she's a nervous mum.
Expecting visual blue & albino babies.
Happy days!

Love those pics Bec!
Maybe it's a Ringneck thing?? Where the males do what they can to make mum comfortable?
Checked the bubs again today and mum had eaten all of the broccoli. I checked because I didn't want any rotting food in there, turns out i didn't have to worry!

Re: Joining in the fun
Is it normal for an albino hen to have blue through the tail like the hen has? or is she not albino?
Re: Joining in the fun
Hi Julie,
She's definitely an Albino.
Not sure if it's normal for them to have some blue through the tail, although I might have to have a closer look at her in case the light / camera flash is causing it to look like there's blue. I hadn't noticed it until you asked!!

Re: Joining in the fun
iT LOOKS LIKE THE CAMERA HAS REFLECTED SOME GREEN OFF THE BROCOLI
Re: Joining in the fun
All albino's have a sheen, infact all birds in general have a sheen of colour. This is actually the natural oils etc the bird uses for preening.
Hence why lutino's can sometimes have a green sheen, and albino's a blueish one... its just the oils reflecting colour through the feathers.
