How long does it normally take an IRN to talk?

My IRN is only 6 months old and we have been trying to teach her to say hello. We say it to him everytime we are in the room with him. The other week he said it once so clearly but hasn't said it again since. Is this early for it to start talking or normal? I know every bird is different.

it is normal... n very soon, means in few days, his tongue would be in control. Before that, sometimes he would be able to successfully repeat words n sometimes not.
After first word, hello in ur case, he would learn quickly.
