Mutation Question

Post by Feathered Friends »

I am new to Indian ringnecks and am considering buying a young pair. This pair is green but the man said that 1 of them is split to blue. I am terrible at genetics and am wondering if there would be any possibility of blue or different colored babies or would they just have green? Anyway, these birds are beautiful no matter what color they are!

Yes, you are right if the genetics are correct for both birds. all offspring will be green, some will be sit Blue like one of the parents- if you do get other colours from the pair, then they are split for other mutations as well.

Yeah but i wouldn't be surprised if you get a blue offspring. Most green IRNs out there are split for blue and the chance for getting a split free one is very, very low.
