Introducing Sami

Post by Sami »

Hello. My name is Brad (it is OK for a guy to join?) and I am owned by a 1-1/2 year old Indian Redneck Parakeet  11 Budgies and a wife of 15 years
We've been watching this board for many months and decided to join and introduce our little green terror Sami who also affectionately is known as the "Redneck", "Hey You!", "Come Back Here With That" "You Little (expletive deleted)" and "Ouch". We live in Minnesota (the coldest part of the USA in our opinion) and fall has started here.

After 11 months with us, Sami has become the, uh, well, we're not quite sure what his/her sex is scritchin' lovin' thing but only on his/her terms

Any guesses if Sami is a He or a She?

YOur bird is so cute!! I vote "girl". He/she acts so much like my female bird here. That bird of yours sounds like it could be a talker if you work with it. Very cute bird :D

Thanks for the warm welcome!
Actually, Sami has been saying words and phrases for the last 6 months. One of the funniest things we hear him say is "Sami! No! NO! SAMI! NOOOOO!" I wonder where he got that from? And when he/she (guess we'll really know in in another 6 months or so!) wants scritches, he'll waddle up to us, neck stretched and swinging back and forth, eyes pinning while saying "Hello!" over and over again until the scritch is achieved

Hi Brad and Sami. ^_^

I thought boy at first but then the pose was very much female.

Does Sami ever sit very straight and hold his/her wings out a little while talking/calling and pinning eyes (sometimes accompanied by hitting beak on random surfaces or perch)?

Ours didn't get their rings until two and half years of age...
