Hello to all:

We will be bringing home my first IRN at the beginning of August- Tiki was hatched in April 2014. My husband and I are very excited and a bit apprehensive as we have not had a parrot in our home for about 2 years, our last one died of a long and expensive illness, we had to put our Parrotlet to sleep, (RIP Jose). We are shipping him in from Ohio to Minnesota. Tiki is a light blue with green on his head and body, interesting looking little bird actually has some of he some marking as Jose had, I just knew he was ours when I saw the pics. He is hand raised and I am confident on his upbringing but you can never be too sure when you are not meeting the people in person but the ppl that we are getting him from are even published in some books that I have seen, fingers crossed as Jose's illness came from the breeder.

Anyway just wanted to introduce myself and I am open for suggestions, money saving advice on toys, I plan on making some and have seen some great ideas already on Pintrest and forums, ( I didn't do any of this with Jose my million dollar baby) and just general knowledge.

If you take time to remember that "stuff" means something different to them than to us, you will see most things have toy potential.

Example:
US ....................................... Them
bottlecap.................................toy
pencil......................................toy
antique wooden doodad..........toy
seashell...................................toy
$100 bill..................................toy
shoelace...................................toy
bird toy....................................toy
diamond ring...........................toy
empty nut shell........................toy
bit of string..............................toy
cell phone.................................toy
scrap of paper..........................toy
twigs........................................toy

etc, etc.......

I especially liked the 100.00 bill warning and Diamond ring- will probably have to get that checked more frequently for loose stones!
