Laughing Turtledoves r a common Cape Turtledove, from the Western Cape in South Africa. They r called so because their call sound like a laugh, almost like hehehehehe with crescendos. They also have a brown ring on half of their neck at the front on crop. They were babie+one fell out of nest + was about 5-7 days old. I raised him with Parakeet breeding mix + de-husked millets. The other1 was an open target on our front porch half frozen. Hubby found him at 10pm, he was a Fledgling but seemed lost. So I took him in too+ raised him the same till both pecked own seeds. My IRNs seem to also be rescued. Bought from a women who has flea market+ she bought it off someone who obviously wanted2 get rid of them! Sad that people take on pets but don't endure! So I have hands full! The cleaning is the hard work!,regards Maz7

I know how you you feel :) I don't know who's messier though. My kids or the animals. It may be a contest

Hey Skye, My kids are far more messier than my birds! Their 'droppings' are harder to clean even  Cleaning after kids is a full time job.

I've often wondered if maybe I should put them in the cages and let the birds have their bedrooms
