Extremely New
Hello,
My family and I have just become the proud owner of our first Ring Neck.
Beautifull birds, I have wanted one for at least ten years now. Any tips on how to socialise the bird with us all would be very warmly welcomed.

Re: Extremely New
At the moment we are still trying o get him used to us, im trying to hand feed him apple through the bars and seem to be making some progress, he still flaps around when ever i try to clean the water or change his food which makes it difficult. Any tips on how to make this task easier?

Hi Screech,
Is the bird clipped or is he flighted? If he/she is clipped you can let it come out of the cage and then do the cleaning. Even if he is not clipped and you have a bird safe house or atleast a room. You can let it come out to stretch its wings. Then slowly you can lure him back into the cage with some of his favorite treat. While he is outside the cage you can do the cleaning and stuff.
Hope this helps.

That's nice I'm sure they are will be happier together, also is the blue one tame or calm or the same?
Re: Extremely New
The Blue one is the same, not hand raised but im going to get their wings clipped and start taking them out of the cage more. Hopefully this will help.

Hi Screech,
Nice he has a friend now. If you can keep the door closed and windows just a wee bit open then you don't have to clip their wings. Keep in mind they can still fly with clipped wings. Patience is the key when trying to tame them.
Good luck
