Just bought a pair of blue Cinnamon RingNecks today.

Post by Topflex »

I've been on this forum about 50x in the pass few days looking for tips/etc. and had finally worked up the courage to buy my first pair.
they are about 7 months old.

Is it normal for them not to eat due to stress of the new environment?
Cause its been about 10 hrs and I haven't seen them eat anything or even drink water.

I'm really worried about them since its my first purchase. Please can anyone give me some suggestions on how to make them eat?

I've left them alone for about 5 hrs but when i checked the food bowl nothing was taken from it.

Can anyone help?

Are they huddled in the corner?

Usually the stress and change in homes can stop / slow them down in eating.

Charliee (My bird) did it for about two days! But after he got used to the home he started eating

Whats their diet? Did the breeder tell you?

We feed ours parrot mix with a whole range of fruit and veg!

Check that you are feeding them what they are used to being fed (for now). It could be that they don't recognise what you are offering them as food. Once they're acclimatised you can try changing their diet a little.

Thanks for the suggestions guys.

Yeah, it was just first day jidders. I was worried, so i started feeding them apples by hand and they started eating them. After that everything was fair game on their menu.
