Hello! ... Just joining the forum and will get an Avatar up soon.
We have recently been given a Violet IRN -- these images were taken
when he was about 5 weeks old. He has started to wean now ... and is
learning to fly ... still on a couple of feedings a day (when he's really
willing and hungry) ...
Our experience with IRNs started back in 1992 with a green/blue and blue. Now, almost
20 years later, we are amazed at the color mutations available with this Spectacular Bird!
We have re-entered the hobby and for about a year and a half now we have aquired a
varied assortment of feathered friends. Our breeding experience includes Alexandrines
and Plumheads and we are looking forward to learning more about the new color mutations
of IRNs.

Re: Hello from the North Carolina Coast ~
We've edited our post to include several pics of our Violet Blue boy and we have our Avatar installed.
Floyd (our Avatar Poster Boy) is 16 years old, is a great pet and has been a wonderful
breeder/parent bird. He and his mate Fiona still let us handle them and take food treats
from our hands even though they are proven breeders.
Flyod is the perfect gentleman. As soon as he gets his first fruit treat from our fingers, he carries
it immediately to Fiona then comes back for his piece. He loves fresh apple and dried papaya!
Our Plumheads are beautiful in flight with their long tails tipped with white ... we also enjoy their
melodic 'song'.
