Now this is only just what I have noticed with my birds so don't take it as gospel, but when my male "turned" into a definate male, it was during a moult and one day there was no hint of a ring, a couple of days later when the feathers were growing back, there was a definate black feather showing through, like in this photo....(excuse his shagginess...poor dude was going through a heavy moult :( )

Not sure if you can notice or not, but the feathers over the ring were just blue and no hint of black under or through them.

Skeet looked like she had a great birthday. :)

Love her colour. :)

I have seen dark areas under the beak even on a female. So right now, I cannot guess. But time will tell! Happy Hatchday!
